The defence ministry on Friday cleared procurement of weapons and military hardware worth Rs 2.38 crore including S-400 missiles and medium transport aircraft.
The procurement proposals were cleared by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
"For the Indian Air Force, proposals were cleared for the procurement of medium transport aircraft, S-400 long range surface-to-air missile system, remotely piloted strike aircraft and overhaul of Su-30 aero engine aggregates," the defence ministry said.
It said the induction of medium transport aircraft by replacing the transport fleet of AN32 and IL76 will meet the strategic, tactical and operational airlift requirements of the services.
"The S-400 system will counter enemy long-range air vectors targeting vital areas, while the remotely piloted strike aircraft will enable undertaking offensive counter and coordinated air operations, also providing stealth intelligence, surveillance and recognition ...

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday held a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Wentao and discussed trade-related issues.
The bilateral meeting was held on the sidelines of the 14th ministerial conference (MC14) in Yaounde, Cameroon.
"Met Mr. Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce of China, on the sidelines of the #WTOMC14. Exchanged views on the MC-14 agenda and discussed bilateral trade matters," Goyal said on a social media post.
The meeting is important as India's trade deficit with China crossed USD 100 billion during the 11-month period of this fiscal year.
During April-February 2025-26, the country's exports to China increased 37.66 per cent to USD 17.54 billion, while imports rose 15.21 per cent to USD 119.55 billion. Trade deficit has widened to USD 102.01 billion from USD 91.03 billion in April-February 2024-25.

Former Raymond chairman Vijaypat Singhania died here on Saturday evening, his family said.
He was 87.
His son Gautam Singhania, the group's current chairman and managing director, announced the death on the microblogging platform 'X'.
Singhania passed away "peacefully" in Mumbai, and the last rites will be performed on Sunday, a Raymond Group spokesperson said.
Vijaypat Singhania, a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, was also a keen aviator and held a world record for the highest altitude gained in a hot air balloon.
He led Raymond as chairman for two decades till 2000. After handing over the reins of the company to Gautam, Vijaypat also transferred his entire 37 per cent stake in the company to his son.
Vijaypat Singhania and his son were embroiled in legal disputes some years ago, but later they settled the issues.

India's rapeseed-mustard production is estimated to rise 3.5 per cent to 119.4 lakh tonne in the 2025-26 rabi season, driven by higher acreage, industry body Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) said on Monday.
Total production stood at 115.2 lakh tonne in the 2024-25 rabi season.
Area under the crop rose to 93.91 lakh hectares from 92.15 lakh hectares a year earlier, while average yield improved to 1,271 kg per hectare from 1,250 kg per hectare, supported by favourable weather conditions and improved agronomic practices, SEA said in a statement.
Rajasthan remained the top producing state with output estimated at 53.9 lakh tonne.
Uttar Pradesh recorded a notable rise to 18.1 lakh tonne, while Haryana showed steady growth at 12.7 lakh tonne. West Bengal and Gujarat also registered gains, with production estimated at 7.4 lakh tonne and 5.9 lakh tonne, respectively.
Assam reported lower yields, with output declining to 2.1 lakh tonne, while Bihar remained largely stable at
